Job Description

About the Role

The Director of Real World Evidence plays a pivotal role in leading teams of research professionals to conduct client studies in the pharmacy and biotech space. This involves operating as a thought leader, problem solver, and consultative expert to drive the success of these studies. The role is part of a dynamic team of industry-leading professionals in the Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR) space, focused on improving healthcare outcomes worldwide.

Day-to-day, the Director will oversee multiple projects, serving as the project manager and primary client contact. This entails ensuring the overall quality of the projects, developing recommendations based on expected impact, communicating risks and opportunities to staff, and making final decisions when necessary. The Director will also be accountable for the timely delivery and financial performance of projects, reviewing and signing off on deliverables such as protocols, statistical analysis plans, technical reports, and slides.

The role involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams, including research professionals, project managers, and clients. The Director will report into a Vice President and will be responsible for line management duties, including ensuring appropriate staffing and creating development plans for direct reports.

What You Will Do

  • Oversee multiple projects comprised of cross-functional staff, serving as the project manager and primary client contact.
  • Lead teams of research professionals conducting client studies in the pharmacy and biotech space.
  • Develop and implement study protocols, statistical analysis plans, and technical reports.
  • Communicate study rationales, methods, results, and strategies to project teams, clients, and external stakeholders.
  • Identify necessary deviations from templates to ensure content aligns with study objectives.
  • Review and sign off on deliverables as client-ready.
  • Manage client relationships, providing final sign-off on update slides, minutes, and actions for overall studies.
  • Act as a subject matter expert and advisor on client calls and in responses to emails.
  • Proactively manage client expectations and work with team members to implement strategies to problem-solve on a client or project basis.
  • Participate in business development, including sales calls, leading study conceptualization, and drafting proposals for clients.
  • Ensure appropriate staffing and create development plans for direct reports.

What We Are Looking For

  • 8-10 years of experience, with at least four years in a consulting environment.
  • Master’s degree in a subject related to health services research, such as health economics, public policy, health policy, epidemiology, biostatistics, or public health.
  • Ability to work effectively individually and as part of a diverse team.
  • Awareness and understanding of financial performance on projects.
  • Ability to line-manage and mentor direct reports, ensuring positive staff wellbeing and team dynamics.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Experience with Real World Evidence studies and health economics research.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Nice to Have

  • PhD in a subject related to health services research.
  • Experience with data analysis software and programming languages.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements for healthcare research.
