Job Description

About the Role

The Director, Security Operations at Lastpass will be responsible for leading the development and execution of the company's security operations strategy. This includes translating threat intelligence into actionable plans, managing incident response, and driving the continuous evolution of security protocols. As a key member of the security team, this role will work closely with various stakeholders, including the CISO, platform and software engineering, cloud security, and communications teams.

The Security Operations team is the first line of defense against security threats, and this role will play a critical part in shaping the company's security posture. With a strong culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and AI-assisted tooling, the team operates at speed and scale to protect customer trust.

As the Director of Security Operations, you will partner with external vendors, threat intelligence partners, industry CERTs, and law enforcement as needed. You will also manage and develop a team of experienced response analysts, setting clear performance expectations, career development pathways, and a culture of operational excellence.

What You Will Do

  • Own and drive the strategy, roadmap, and maturation of Lastpass's Security Operations function, scaling with the business
  • Lead all response operations across the full incident lifecycle, from detection and triage through containment, eradication, recovery, and post-incident review
  • Build, develop, and retain a high-performing team of analysts and engineers, fostering a culture of operational excellence
  • Partner with the CISO, Legal, and Communications to manage high-severity incidents, coordinating executive response and fulfilling regulatory notification obligations
  • Define and own detection and response program metrics, SLAs, and reporting frameworks, providing the CISO and board with clear visibility into program maturity and risk posture
  • Champion the integration of AI-assisted triage, automation pipelines, and Detection-as-Code methodologies to reduce analyst toil and drive down mean-time-to-respond
  • Establish and maintain strategic relationships with external partners, including threat intelligence providers and industry CERTs
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive security awareness program to educate employees on security best practices and phishing attacks
  • Collaborate with the Cloud Security team to ensure the security and compliance of cloud-based infrastructure

What We Are Looking For

  • 8+ years of experience in security operations, incident response, or a related field
  • Strong technical expertise in security protocols, threat intelligence, and incident response
  • Proven experience in leading high-performing teams, with a focus on talent development and career growth
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to partner with various stakeholders
  • Strong understanding of security frameworks, compliance, and regulatory requirements
  • Experience with AI-assisted tooling, automation pipelines, and Detection-as-Code methodologies
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically and tactically
  • Excellent Excel skills, with the ability to analyze and present complex data insights

Nice to Have

  • Experience with cloud-based security solutions, such as AWS or Azure
  • Knowledge of industry-specific security standards, such as PCI-DSS or HIPAA
  • Certification in security operations, such as CISSP or CISM
  • Experience with threat intelligence platforms, such as ThreatConnect or Anomali
  • Strong understanding of DevOps and Agile methodologies
