About the Role
The Director of Business Development at Lumanity is a pivotal role that combines strategic thinking, industry expertise, and exceptional communication skills to drive growth within the life sciences sector. This position is focused on the Clinical & Regulatory Consulting operating company, necessitating a deep understanding of the pharmaceutical industry, its operations, and the intricate buying cycles involved. Day-to-day activities will include identifying and developing new business opportunities, engaging in networking and relationship-building, and collaborating with internal practice leaders to align the right teams and expertise to each client opportunity.The role matters because it directly contributes to expanding Lumanity's market footprint. By cultivating high-impact client relationships and positioning the company's specialized capabilities as effective solutions, the Director plays a crucial part in the company's strategic growth. The team context is collaborative, working closely with the Commercial Excellence workstream team and key account leads to ensure aligned business development plans and effective execution.
What You Will Do
- Identify and develop new business opportunities across Lumanity's Clinical & Regulatory Consulting business.
- Engage in networking and relationship-building to cultivate new connections and strengthen existing client partnerships.
- Contribute to targeted business development plans in collaboration with the Commercial Excellence workstream team.
- Serve as a trusted partner to senior client stakeholders, understanding their challenges and positioning Lumanity's specialized capabilities as effective solutions.
- Maintain regular contact with clients in collaboration with the Strategy practice to identify new opportunities.
- Collaborate with internal practice leaders to align the right teams and experts to each client opportunity.
- Track, manage, and report opportunities through the customer relationship management (CRM) system.
- Maintain a deep understanding of market trends, client needs, and industry dynamics to proactively identify high-potential opportunities.
- Share insights that refine business development strategy.
- Develop and implement effective pipeline growth strategies.
What We Are Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in business, life sciences, or a related discipline.
- 10+ years of business development experience within the life sciences sector.
- Working understanding of pharmaceutical operations and procurement processes.
- Proven ability to cultivate and maintain senior client relationships within the life sciences industry.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capability to assess client needs, market conditions, and competitive positioning.
- Strong listening skills and ability to lead solution-oriented discussions internally and externally.
- Proficiency in Excel and experience with CRM systems.
- A consultative approach and strong communication skills.
- Ability to navigate complex buying cycles and requests for proposal (RFP) processes.
