About the Role

The Director, UX Research will play a crucial role in shaping the company's UX research function, leading a team of researchers to drive user-centered design and product development. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing company in the collectibles space, with a unique chance to work on a suite of products that help collectors manage and enjoy their collections. The role will involve working closely with cross-functional teams, including Marketing, Product, Design, and Engineering, to drive business outcomes through strategic decision-making.

The UX research team at Collectors is responsible for conducting generative, formative, and summative research to support product design and development. The team uses a range of methodologies, including ethnography, interviews, surveys, concept testing, and usability studies, to gain a deep understanding of user needs and behaviors. As the leader of this team, the Director, UX Research will be responsible for defining and driving the UX research roadmap, identifying critical knowledge gaps, and prioritizing work that influences company-level decisions.

What You Will Do

  • Define and drive the UX research roadmap, identifying critical knowledge gaps and prioritizing work that influences company-level decisions
  • Act as a senior partner to Marketing, Product, Design, and Engineering leads to drive decision-making
  • Conduct and guide team members on the design and execution of generative, formative, and summative research
  • Mentor the user research team, setting clear direction and establishing a high bar for research craft
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive business outcomes through strategic decision-making
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of user needs and behaviors, using this knowledge to inform product design and development
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and methodologies in UX research, applying this knowledge to drive innovation and improvement in the team's work
  • Develop and manage the UX research budget, ensuring effective use of resources and budget
  • Present research findings and recommendations to senior stakeholders, including the executive team

What We Are Looking For

  • 7+ years of experience in user research, preferably with experience in consumer technology, collectibles, sports, or fandom
  • 2+ years of experience in people management, with a proven track record of mentoring and developing team members
  • A broad range of methodologies, including qualitative and quantitative research methods
  • Excellent communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to present complex research findings to senior stakeholders
  • Strong strategic thinking skills, with the ability to connect research findings to product strategy and business outcomes
  • Experience with tools such as Excel, and other research software
  • A bachelor's degree in a related field, such as psychology, sociology, or human-computer interaction

Nice to Have

  • Experience working in a remote or distributed team environment
  • Knowledge of the collectibles industry, including trends and market dynamics
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies
  • A master's degree in a related field, such as psychology, sociology, or human-computer interaction
