About the Role

Pinnacle Home Care, Florida's largest independent Medicare-certified home health provider, is seeking a skilled Documentation Specialist to join their award-winning team. As a Documentation Specialist, you will be responsible for managing documentation, developing relationships with referral partners, and ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. You will work closely with the clinical team to ensure accurate and timely documentation, and collaborate with referral partners to obtain signatures and resolve outstanding orders.

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills, as well as experience working with EMR systems. You will be able to work independently and as part of a team, and will be comfortable traveling to referral partner offices and working in a fast-paced environment.

What You Will Do

  • Travel with clinicians to referral partner offices to develop relationships and obtain signatures for current or outstanding orders
  • Update and manage delivery methods in the EMR system as necessary
  • Work with referral partners to obtain outstanding paperwork and resolve issues
  • Monitor and correct physician information in the EMR system
  • Submit Smartsheet for changes to clinicians' assigned referral sources
  • Document daily work performed to obtain current or outstanding orders
  • Follow up on previous week's activity and escalate orders as necessary
  • Participate in meetings to discuss and provide updates on outstanding orders and communicate plans to obtain missing documents
  • Print and prepare orders for clinicians and discuss plans for obtaining signatures
  • Run reports on a weekly basis and work with clinicians to ensure orders are complete within 14 days
  • Review potential write-off accounts with the revenue cycle department to determine a plan for resolution or submission for write-off

What We Are Looking For

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Previous experience working with an EMR system
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills
  • Advanced typing and computer skills, including MS Office
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience working in a healthcare setting, preferably in home health
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and compliance
  • Ability to travel to referral partner offices and work independently

Nice to Have

  • Experience working with Smartsheet or similar software
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and coding
  • Previous experience working in a documentation specialist role
