What You Will Do

  • Conduct practical driving assessments to ensure candidates meet the Queensland Government's standards and road safety regulations.
  • Assess driving skills, road rule knowledge, and the ability to operate vehicles safely in various conditions.
  • Provide clear, constructive, and professional feedback to applicants following assessments.
  • Deliver assessments fairly and consistently, following departmental policies and procedures.
  • Promote road safety awareness and contribute to reducing incidents on Queensland roads.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders to ensure smooth and effective service delivery.
  • Evaluate applicants' understanding of road signs, signals, and markings.
  • Assess the ability of applicants to manage and navigate through different types of intersections and road conditions.

What We Are Looking For

  • A current and valid Queensland driver's licence, including HR (Heavy Rigid), held for at least 12 months.
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain Driving Examiner Accreditation through the Department of Transport and Main Roads.
  • A clean driving record with no significant infringements.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to provide constructive feedback and interact with applicants and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to travel to neighbouring centres as required.
  • Understanding of road safety regulations and standards.
  • Ability to maintain impartiality and fairness in all assessments.

Nice to Have

  • An HC (Heavy Combination) or R (motorcycle) licence.
  • Higher licence classes are preferred.
  • Experience in a similar role or in the field of road safety.
  • Knowledge of Queensland's road rules and regulations.
