About the Role

The Electrical Design Lead is a critical position at Treehouse Job Board, focusing on ensuring the technical soundness and feasibility of electrical projects. This role provides a unique opportunity for a highly skilled Journeyman Electrician to transition into a design and enablement role, utilizing their expertise to drive the success of Treehouse's electrification programs. As an Electrical Design Lead, you will be responsible for reviewing complex project scopes, supporting pre-sale technical reviews, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless project execution.

The ideal candidate will possess deep field knowledge, design aptitude, and excellent communication skills, allowing them to effectively bridge gaps between design, scoping, and delivery. What You Will Do

  • Provide technical design and scoping support by reviewing complex project scopes to ensure feasibility and compliance
  • Support pre-sale technical reviews by clarifying edge-case designs and customer constraints before proposal finalization
  • Act as a technical partner to sales, providing fast and confident answers to questions on installation approach
  • Flag risky or non-standard conditions early to prevent installation delays
  • Provide permitting and plan set guidance by reviewing permit plan sets for accuracy
  • Partner with the Head Electrician and permitting team on AHJ-specific requirements or technical justifications
  • Collaborate with installation teams to review projects for completeness before handoff to installation operations
  • Flag projects that may require field reverification or Master Electrician input
  • Serve as a knowledge management expert by creating technical FAQs, reference guides, and installation readiness checklists
  • Contribute to scoping libraries and internal playbooks with field-proven best practices
  • Identify opportunities for simplification and standardization, gaps in scoping logic, and repeat issues

What We Are Looking For

  • Licensed Journeyman Electrician certification with at least 5 years of hands-on residential experience
  • Knowledge and experience with NEC and the ability to interpret code for real-world scenarios
  • Experience working in a software-based environment, including comfortable use of G-suite and/or Microsoft Office
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a remote environment, with strong self-motivation and discipline
  • Experience with project management tools, such as Asana or Trello
  • Familiarity with design and drafting software, such as AutoCAD or SketchUp
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and outside the box

Nice to Have

  • Experience in a startup or high-growth tech company environment
  • 10+ years of hands-on residential experience, ideally in L2 EV charging, service upgrades, load management, and smart panels
  • Experience with HubSpot, Excel, and other software tools relevant to the role
  • Certification in a related field, such as LEED AP or NABCEP
  • Experience with agile project management methodologies, such as Scrum or Kanban
