About the Role
The Embedded Devices Software Solution Sales Account Manager position at Canonical is a high-energy role focused on prospecting sales and strategic account development, demanding ambition and focus. As a key member of the sales team, you will be responsible for carrying an annual bookings quota and must be comfortable positioning and selling a range of open source, services, and software solutions. The role entails building and executing a territory sales plan, working with marketing to promote the brand, and developing pipeline through outreach, prospecting, local marketing, and industry events.As part of the Canonical team, you will be working with a global leader in open-source software, operating in a highly collaborative environment with 1200+ colleagues across 75+ countries. The company's platform, Ubuntu, is widely used in breakthrough enterprise initiatives such as public cloud, data science, AI, engineering innovation, and IoT. Teams meet two to four times yearly in person to align on strategy and execution, providing opportunities for face-to-face collaboration and professional growth.
The successful candidate will focus on the Ubuntu product portfolio, which is already widely used in connected devices and industrial PCs. The newer offering, Ubuntu Core for IoT, provides state-of-the-art security and resilience for high-end appliances and equipment, serving global brands in consumer, industrial electronics, automotive, and robotics.
What You Will Do
- Build and execute a territory sales plan to prioritize leading security-focused brands and manufacturers
- Work with marketing to promote the brand and increase market awareness in prioritized accounts
- Develop pipeline through outreach, prospecting, local marketing, and industry events
- Close contracts to meet and exceed quarterly and annual bookings targets and achieve strategic objectives
- Manage customer relationships and interactions through all stages of the sales cycle
- Work with Field Engineers to understand customer requirements and ensure customer satisfaction
- Maintain accurate data and forecasts within Salesforce
- Establish productive professional relationships with key influencers and decision-makers
- Coordinate with colleagues, including support, delivery, and management
What We Are Looking For
- Exceptional academic track record from both high school and university
- Undergraduate degree in a technical subject
- Confidence to respectfully speak up and articulate complex technical ideas
- Experience in selling complex technical solutions, including enterprise software, cloud, virtualization, and container technologies
- Familiarity with embedded Linux and RTOS
- Professional practice, clear account planning, and continuous pipeline reporting skills
- Ability to travel regionally for client engagement and internationally for company events twice a year
Nice to Have
- Experience with Salesforce and Excel
- Knowledge of the IoT and embedded devices market
- Familiarity with open-source software and Ubuntu
