Job Description

About the Role

The Employee Relations Consultant is a critical position at Empower, responsible for supporting and guiding managers on a wide range of employee relations matters. This role requires a high level of expertise in employment laws and regulations, as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills. As a key member of the HR team, the successful candidate will work closely with management to resolve employee relations issues, provide coaching and conflict resolution, and maintain compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of federal, state, and municipal employment laws and regulations, as well as experience in conducting investigations and disciplinary actions. They will also be able to provide subject matter expertise on employment laws and regulations, and make recommendations for improvement to HR or department management.

What You Will Do

  • Partner with management to support and guide them on employee relations issues
  • Conduct investigations and disciplinary actions, including involuntary terminations
  • Provide coaching and conflict resolution to management and employees
  • Track trends and make recommendations for improvement to HR or department management
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on employment laws and regulations
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of federal, state, and municipal employment laws and regulations
  • Create and interpret company policies and procedures in coordination with the Sr. HR Business Partner and HR senior leadership
  • Provide input and recommendations regarding current HR policies and procedures to HR senior leadership and HR functional areas
  • Reinforce initiatives within respective client groups as defined by the Sr. HR Business Partner or business unit management
  • Collaborate with the Sr. HR Business Partner and HR Director to support enterprise-wide employee engagement initiatives

What We Are Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • Five or more years of relevant work experience
  • HR Generalist experience in a service-related industry preferred
  • PHR or SPHR certification strongly preferred
  • Subject matter expertise on current employment laws and regulations
  • Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information

Nice to Have

  • Experience with HRIS systems and other relevant software
  • Knowledge of labor laws and regulations
  • Experience in a similar role in a large organization
  • Certification in a related field, such as HR or business administration
  • Bilingual or multilingual skills
