Job Description

About the Role

The Employee Relations Partner role at Sysco is a critical position that requires a highly skilled professional to manage complex employee relations initiatives and provide strategic guidance to leaders. As an Employee Relations Partner, you will be responsible for leading initiatives that foster a positive and productive work environment, ensuring compliance with legal standards, and mitigating risks. You will work closely with the Head of Employment Relations and other senior leaders to develop and implement strategies that support the company's goals and objectives.

The role will have clear geographical responsibilities across all departments, and you will be required to travel up to two days per week to visit various locations, including London, Manchester, and other depot locations across the UK. A full clean driving license is required for this position.

What You Will Do

  • Lead complex employee relations initiatives, including managing complex cases and providing strategic guidance to leaders
  • Develop and implement programs and initiatives that improve employee and industrial relations, and overall workplace culture
  • Provide expert advice on employee relations issues, including sensitive and high-profile cases
  • Collaborate with senior leaders to develop and implement strategies that support the company's goals and objectives
  • Manage complex cases, including tribunal cases, judicial mediation, and ACAS claims
  • Lead the review and development of employee relations policies, procedures, and standard operating processes
  • Facilitate the communication and implementation of revised policies, processes, and best practices across the organization
  • Design training programs and supporting materials for line managers on best practices in employee relations, conflict resolution, and workplace behavior
  • Develop resources and tools to support managers in effectively handling day-to-day employee relations issues
  • Support the Head of ER in identifying potential areas of high risk related to employee relations and advising leadership on preventive measures

What We Are Looking For

  • A minimum of a CIPD Level 5 qualification in a relevant field
  • Significant experience in employee relations, preferably in a large-scale organization
  • Strong analytical capability to identify root causes and implement solutions that strengthen organizational culture
  • Experience in managing complex cases, including tribunal cases, judicial mediation, and ACAS claims
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence positive and sustainable outcomes
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and projects
  • Strong knowledge of employment law and best practices in employee relations
  • Experience in working with trade unions, including collective bargaining and negotiations

Nice to Have

  • Experience in a similar role in the food distribution industry
  • Knowledge of ACAS guidelines and codes of practice
  • Experience in designing and delivering training programs
  • Certification in a relevant field, such as employment law or human resources
