About the Role

The Engineering Manager role at Cohere is a unique opportunity to lead a team of talented engineers and drive the deployment of Cohere's AI platform in EMEA. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for managing a team of Forward Deployed Engineers, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring the technical success of Cohere's North platform. The role requires a strong technical background, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, remote-first environment.

The deployment of AI platforms is a complex process that requires meticulous planning, execution, and monitoring. As an Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring that the deployment process is smooth, efficient, and meets the required standards. You will work closely with the Product, Engineering, and Sales teams to shape how Cohere delivers AI to enterprises and drive customer success.

What You Will Do

  • Lead and mentor a team of Forward Deployed Engineers across EMEA
  • Drive end-to-end deployment of North in private cloud and on-premises environments
  • Take ownership of customer success from technical implementation through delivery
  • Collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, and Sales to shape how we deliver AI to enterprises
  • Mentor your team on cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes, and enterprise-grade deployments
  • Optimize performance for OpenSearch, databases, and other K8s services
  • Define scaling guidelines for GPU and CPU compute resources
  • Build processes & technology that scales — we're growing fast
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies
  • Collaborate with the security team to ensure compliance and security standards are met

What We Are Looking For

  • 5+ years of experience in software engineering with demonstrated leadership
  • Hands-on experience deploying enterprise software at scale
  • Strong expertise in cloud infrastructure (Azure, AWS, GCP)
  • Experience with Kubernetes, Helm, and CI/CD pipelines
  • High agency — you don't wait for permission to solve problems
  • A doer mentality — you dig in and get stuff done
  • Experience managing engineers in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
  • Excellent communication skills in English
  • Strong technical background in computer science or related field
  • Experience with AI/ML infrastructure
  • Background in enterprise security and compliance
