About the Role

The Firefox team at Mozilla is a global community of engineers dedicated to delivering the fastest, friendliest, and most usable browser possible. As an Engineering Manager for the Firefox Desktop Onboarding Messaging and Communication (OMC) team, you will play a crucial role in leading a geographically distributed team across North American time zones. Your primary focus will be on driving technical excellence and shaping innovative user experiences that influence how people interact with the web.

The OMC team owns the messaging system that helps onboard new users and keeps existing users informed about new features and capabilities within the browser. In close partnership with the Product team, the OMC team experiments with message content and orchestration to deliver thoughtful, well-timed experiences that improve engagement and user value. As the leader of this team, you will excel at building strong teams, driving technical excellence, and shaping innovative user experiences.

What You Will Do

  • Drive initiatives to deliver value to users via messaging and features across Firefox, ensuring high-quality software that is monitored and maintainable.
  • Help the team navigate trade-offs and drive alignment in a fast-paced, evolving field, balancing quick delivery with thoughtful, long-term approaches.
  • Communicate the team's goals, scope, and progress to stakeholders, including product managers, engineers, and other teams.
  • Foster a culture of technical excellence, innovation, and collaboration within the team.
  • Develop and execute plans to improve the team's processes, tools, and workflows.

What We Are Looking For

  • 5+ years of experience in software engineering, with a focus on frontend development and user experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in leading engineering teams, with a proven track record of driving technical excellence and innovation.
  • Strong technical skills, including proficiency in languages like JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
  • Experience with agile development methodologies and version control systems like Git.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire teams.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex problems and develop creative solutions.
  • Experience with messaging systems, onboarding flows, and user experience design.
  • Familiarity with the Firefox browser and its underlying technologies.
