About the Role
The Engineering Manager II position at Datadog is a high-leverage leadership role that entails leading, coaching, and growing the careers of engineers across three teams: Developer Experience, Performance, and Release. The successful candidate will own the tooling and platforms that keep the development loop fast, prevent performance regressions before release, and gate customer-impacting issues through gradual rollouts and customer-simulation environments. This role is critical to driving engineering productivity and product quality across the company.As a key member of the engineering management team, the Engineering Manager II will set the vision and roadmap for developer productivity, drive the performance engineering practice, and own the release experience. This will involve partnering with product, infrastructure, and internal CI teams across Datadog to understand how they build software and continuously increase the efficiency of workflows.
The ideal candidate will have experience in system design, with the ability to set and raise the technical bar for reliable, high-scale systems. They will also have a track record of roadmap planning and shipping in collaboration with partner teams, as well as a strong background in people management, with a focus on investing in career growth, mentoring, and building healthy, high-trust teams.
What You Will Do
- Lead, coach, and grow the careers of engineers across three teams
- Set the vision and roadmap for developer productivity
- Drive the performance engineering practice and own the release experience
- Partner with product, infrastructure, and internal CI teams to understand how they build software and increase workflow efficiency
- Scale and evolve fault-tolerant, tier-0 CI and CD systems to support growth into new and more complex environments
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive technical roadmap planning and shipping
- Develop and implement strategies to prevent performance regressions and customer-impacting issues
- Manage and optimize the development loop to ensure faster and more reliable code delivery
- Foster a culture of innovation, experimentation, and continuous learning within the engineering teams
- Develop and maintain technical roadmaps and vision for the teams

- Experience with data analytics and visualization tools, such as Tableau or Power BI
- Certification in engineering management or a related field
