About the Role
The Engineering Manager - Integrations Platform at Plaid is a critical leadership role, responsible for overseeing the development and maintenance of the company's core integrations platform. This platform is the backbone of Plaid's services, supporting thousands of financial institutions and powering the applications that millions of people rely on for their financial well-being. As the leader of this team, you will be responsible for defining and driving the long-term strategy for the integrations platform, in close partnership with technical and product leaders across the company.The integrations platform team is at the heart of Plaid's architecture, and its services are used by all of Plaid's products. The team's mission is to provide a highly reliable, efficient, and configurable extraction platform that powers all of Plaid's extractions, ensuring that products get the bank data they need, when they need it. The team owns three core pillars: Traffic, Extraction Platform, and Network Health.
What You Will Do
- Lead a team of 6 engineers, ranging from mid-level to Staff, developing them through clear goal setting, coaching, and feedback.
- Define and drive the long-term strategy for the integrations platform, in close partnership with technical and product leaders across Plaid.
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners to identify high-leverage opportunities, shape the roadmap, and dive deep into technical design and execution details to ensure consistent delivery of high-impact business outcomes.
- Uphold a high bar for technical quality and delivery velocity, leading by example.
- Develop and execute plans to improve the scalability, reliability, and efficiency of the integrations platform.
- Work closely with the product engineering teams to ensure that the integrations platform meets their needs and supports the development of new products and features.
- Collaborate with the Network Engineering & Access team to ensure that the integrations platform is aligned with the company's overall technical strategy.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including product leaders, engineers, and other teams across the company.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies, and apply that knowledge to drive innovation and improvement in the integrations platform.
What We Are Looking For
- 8+ years of industry experience, including time as a Staff-level engineer before transitioning into management.
- 1+ years of engineering management experience.
- Deep experience designing scalable, reliable architectures that support real-world products at scale.
- Track record of building and growing high-performing engineering teams.
- Strong technical skills, including proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, or C++.
- Experience with cloud-based technologies, such as AWS or Google Cloud.
- Strong understanding of software development methodologies, including Agile and Scrum.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team of engineers.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex problems and develop creative solutions.
Nice to Have
- Experience with containerization technologies, such as Docker.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automation tools, such as Jenkins or CircleCI.
- Knowledge of security best practices and experience with implementing secure coding practices.
- Experience with data analytics and visualization tools, such as Tableau or Power BI.
