About the Role
The Engineering Manager role at Mercury is a unique opportunity to lead a team of talented software engineers in developing real-time accounting solutions. As a key member of the Accounting product engineering team, you will be responsible for driving the technical vision and strategy for the team, ensuring that the products meet the highest standards of quality and reliability. The team's mission is to close the gap between fragmented financial data and real-time insights, enabling businesses to make informed decisions.The role entails day-to-day management of a team of 6+ engineers, including performance management, mentorship, and hiring. You will be responsible for contributing to a team culture that aligns with Mercury's values and promoting a culture of technical excellence. The team is part of a larger organization, and you will be expected to collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders, including designers, product leaders, and other engineering teams.
What You Will Do
- Lead a team of 6+ software engineers, providing technical guidance and mentorship to ensure the team's success
- Contribute to the development of the team's technical architecture, including designing and implementing solutions for ingesting financial data from multiple sources
- Collaborate with designers, product leaders, and other stakeholders to shape the product strategy and roadmap
- Work closely with other engineering teams to ensure product cohesion and simplicity
- Define and implement processes for testing, deployment, and monitoring of software applications
- Develop and manage the team's technical roadmap, aligning with the company's overall strategic goals
- Foster a culture of innovation and experimentation, encouraging the team to try new approaches and technologies
- Develop and manage the team's budget, ensuring effective use of resources
- Collaborate with other teams to identify and prioritize technical debt, ensuring that the team's solutions are scalable and maintainable
- Participate in the hiring process, helping to attract and retain top talent in the industry
- Develop and deliver technical presentations to both technical and non-technical audiences
What We Are Looking For
- 3+ years of experience in engineering management, leading full-stack product engineering teams
- Strong technical background, with experience in software development and technical architecture
- Experience with AI-driven financial solutions, or similar technologies
- Strong understanding of monolithic and microservice architectures
- Experience with Agile development methodologies and version control systems
- Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to articulate technical vision and strategy
- Experience with cloud-based technologies, such as AWS or Google Cloud
- Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software design patterns
- Experience with containers and container orchestration, such as Docker and Kubernetes
- Strong understanding of security and compliance principles, with experience in implementing secure solutions
Nice to Have
- Experience in the fintech industry, or similar domains
- Experience with consumer-facing AI products, or similar technologies
- Experience with machine learning or data science, with a strong understanding of statistical modeling and data analysis
- Experience with DevOps practices, including continuous integration and delivery
