Job Description

## About the Role As an Engineering Manager at Gitlab, you will be responsible for leading a team focused on observability, reliability, and secure cross-system integrations across the Monetization area. This is a people-first management role where you will hire and develop the team, guide technical direction, and help shape an AI-native approach to detecting anomalies and improving performance in business-critical workflows. You will work closely with various departments to turn business needs into reliable customer experiences.

The role entails standing up the team, establishing operating rhythms and incident response practices, and improving the reliability, availability, and data quality of fulfillment systems that directly affect revenue and the customer experience. You will also be responsible for architecting end-to-end telemetry and observability, implementing automated billing anomaly detection, and defining the integration strategy between customer-facing monetization services and enterprise applications.

## What You Will Do - Architect end-to-end telemetry and observability across CustomersDot, Salesforce, and Zuora to enable real-time monitoring and faster issue resolution across purchasing and provisioning flows.

  • Implement automated billing anomaly detection to identify event drops, abuse spikes, and transactional discrepancies that affect reconciliation and financial integrity.
  • Define the integration strategy between customer-facing monetization services and enterprise applications, including Salesforce and Workato, with a focus on durable API contracts and reliable financial workflows.
  • Drive an AI-native engineering approach that uses machine learning and AI-enabled tooling to surface anomalies, improve infrastructure operations, and inform delivery planning.
  • Hire and develop a team of engineers who are passionate about observability, reliability, and secure cross-system integrations.
  • Establish operating rhythms and incident response practices that ensure the reliability, availability, and data quality of fulfillment systems.
  • Collaborate with product, design, sales, go-to-market, finance, information technology, and support engineering to turn business needs into reliable customer experiences.
  • Improve the reliability and availability of Fulfillment infrastructure and customer-facing buyer journeys.
  • Make foundational improvements to the architecture and data models of Fulfillment systems.
  • Deliver high-impact changes across pricing, billing, provisioning, subscriptions, and usage-related experiences.
## What We Are Looking For - 5+ years of experience in a leadership role, preferably in a cloud-based or SaaS company.
  • Strong technical background in software engineering, with a focus on observability, reliability, and secure cross-system integrations.
  • Experience with Salesforce, Adjust, and other relevant technologies.
  • Proven track record of driving technical innovation and leading high-performing teams.
  • Strong understanding of AI-native approaches, machine learning, and cloud-based technologies.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work with cross-functional teams.
  • Experience with agile development methodologies and version control systems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex issues and develop creative solutions.
## Nice to Have - Experience with Workato, Zuora, and other relevant enterprise applications.
  • Knowledge of data models and architecture, with a focus on fulfillment systems.
  • Experience with automated billing anomaly detection and other relevant technologies.
  • Certification in cloud-based technologies, such as AWS or Azure.
  • Experience with machine learning and AI-enabled tooling.
