About the Role

The Engineering Manager, Platform will play a crucial role in leading Float's infrastructure and developer experience teams. This group is responsible for the reliability, scalability, and usability of Float's engineering systems, ensuring teams can ship safely, efficiently, and with confidence as the company scales deeper into financial services. The successful candidate will have a strong technical background, excellent leadership skills, and a passion for driving innovation.

The role sits at the intersection of infrastructure, reliability, and developer productivity, requiring a unique blend of technical expertise and people management skills. As a leader, the Engineering Manager will unify infrastructure and developer experience into a cohesive platform function, eliminating friction across engineering workflows and raising the bar on uptime and operational maturity.

What You Will Do

  • Lead and evolve a unified Platform organization spanning infrastructure, SRE practices, and developer experience
  • Define the platform vision, roadmap, and success metrics in partnership with Engineering leadership
  • Balance near-term reliability needs with long-term platform investments
  • Own platform reliability, uptime, and operational health as Float scales into banking-grade systems
  • Establish and mature SRE practices including monitoring, alerting, incident response, and postmortems
  • Drive adoption of Infrastructure as Code and automation across the stack
  • Build internal tooling, workflows, and abstractions that reduce cognitive load and accelerate delivery
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive business outcomes and improve customer experience

What We Are Looking For

  • 5+ years of experience in software engineering, with a focus on infrastructure, reliability, and developer productivity
  • 2+ years of experience in a leadership role, with a proven track record of building and managing high-performing teams
  • Strong technical skills, with expertise in areas such as cloud computing, containerization, and automation
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex problems and develop creative solutions
  • Experience with Excel and other data analysis tools
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field

Nice to Have

  • Experience with machine learning and artificial intelligence
  • Knowledge of fintech and financial services industry
  • Experience with agile development methodologies and DevOps practices
  • Certification in cloud computing, such as AWS or Azure
