Engineering Manager, Product Platform & Accounting APIs

The day-to-day responsibilities of this role will involve leading teams, contributing to technical decisions, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to evolve Float's API strategy and long-term ecosystem vision. Given the company's mission to simplify finance for Canadian businesses, the Engineering Manager will play a key role in shaping the future of business finance in Canada.

What You Will Do

• Own the roadmap and execution for Product Platform and API capabilities.
• Build systems that enable product teams to ship faster with fewer dependencies.
• Anticipate engineering needs and translate them into scalable platform solutions.
• Lead development and maintenance of accounting integrations, such as QuickBooks, Xero, and NetSuite.
• Design reliable, scalable integration patterns across disparate third-party APIs.
• Partner with Product to evolve Float's API strategy and long-term ecosystem vision.
• Contribute directly to backend, platform, and integration code.
• Review designs and PRs with a focus on correctness, scalability, and maintainability.
• Troubleshoot complex integration and operational issues.
• Collaborate with Product, Platform, and Customer teams to drive business growth.

What We Are Looking For

• 5+ years of experience in a technical leadership role, preferably in the fintech or software development sector.
• Strong proficiency in Excel and experience with API development and integration.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to manage and motivate cross-functional teams.
• Experience with backend development and familiarity with cloud-based platforms.
• Strong understanding of software development principles, including scalability, maintainability, and reliability.
• Ability to operate in ambiguity and make technical decisions with incomplete information.
• Experience with Agile development methodologies and version control systems like Git.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
