About the Role
The Engineering Manager for Product Platform & APIs at Float is a critical position that leads the development of the foundational systems powering Float's product ecosystem and integrations. This involves overseeing internal platforms, external APIs, and accounting integrations that enable product teams and third-party developers to build on Float safely and at scale. The day-to-day responsibilities of this role will involve leading teams, contributing to technical decisions, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to evolve Float's API strategy and long-term ecosystem vision. What You Will Do
- Own the roadmap and execution for Product Platform and API capabilities.
- Build systems that enable product teams to ship faster with fewer dependencies.
- Anticipate engineering needs and translate them into scalable platform solutions.
- Lead development and maintenance of accounting integrations, such as QuickBooks, Xero, and NetSuite.
- Design reliable, scalable integration patterns across disparate third-party APIs.
- Partner with Product to evolve Float's API strategy and long-term ecosystem vision.
- Contribute directly to backend, platform, and integration code.
- Review designs and PRs with a focus on correctness, scalability, and maintainability.
- Troubleshoot complex integration and operational issues.
- Collaborate with Product, Platform, and Customer teams to drive business growth.
What We Are Looking For
- 5+ years of experience in a technical leadership role, preferably in the fintech or software development sector.
- Strong proficiency in Excel and experience with API development and integration.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to manage and motivate cross-functional teams.
- Experience with backend development and familiarity with cloud-based platforms.
- Strong understanding of software development principles, including scalability, maintainability, and reliability.
- Ability to operate in ambiguity and make technical decisions with incomplete information.
- Experience with Agile development methodologies and version control systems like Git.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
