About the Role
Reddit is a community-driven platform that relies on the trust and safety of its users. As the Engineering Manager of the Safety Experience Team, you will play a critical role in developing and scaling the safety features that protect the platform. Your team will be responsible for building and maintaining the tools and systems that enable moderators to manage their communities effectively and keep users safe. The Safety Experience Team is a high-impact engineering team that works closely with cross-functional teams, including Product, Data Science, and Operations. As the leader of this team, you will have full ownership over the strategy, development, and scaling of Reddit's safety features. You will be responsible for setting the technical direction and roadmap for the team, as well as coaching and mentoring team members to help them grow in their careers. - Lead a high-impact team of engineers to develop and scale safety features and tools
- Own the strategy and roadmap for the Safety Experience Team
- Coach and mentor team members to help them grow in their careers
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and execute an AI-first platform strategy
- Develop and maintain user-facing tools for moderators to manage their communities
- Build and scale centralized platforms for admins to train AI models and process reports
- Partner with Product, Data Science, and Operations teams to drive business outcomes
- Set technical direction and vision for the Safety Experience Team
- Foster a culture of innovation, experimentation, and continuous learning
What We Are Looking For
- Track record of directly managing and scaling larger engineering teams (10+ ICs)
- Deep technical competence in full-stack engineering or architecture
- Experience with large-scale distributed systems and AI/ML engineering practices
- Strong customer focus and ability to set a roadmap for a team and its members
- Desire to coach and mentor team members and foster a healthy team culture
- Customer-focused and self-directed, innovative, and biased towards action
- Familiarity with or strong interest in AI/ML engineering practices, specifically around serving and prompt engineering
Nice to Have
- Experience with scalable safety tooling and automated defense systems
- Knowledge of human-in-the-loop workflows and AI training data
- Familiarity with moderator community management and platform safety
- Experience with cloud-based infrastructure and containerization
- Strong understanding of data science and machine learning concepts
