About the Role

The Enterprise Sales Engineer role at Datadog is a critical component of the sales team, responsible for providing technical expertise and support to drive sales growth. As a sales engineer, you will work closely with the sales team to articulate the overall Datadog value proposition, vision, and strategy to customers. You will own the technical engagement with customers during the trial phase, communicating Datadog's value based on activities and working with customers to address any issues or concerns that may arise.

The sales engineer role requires a unique blend of technical, business, and communication skills. You will be responsible for delivering product and technical briefings to potential clients, maintaining accurate notes and feedback in CRM regarding customer input, and proactively engaging with customers and Datadog business and technical teams regarding product feedback and competitive landscape.

What You Will Do

  • Partner with the sales team to articulate the overall Datadog value proposition, vision, and strategy to customers
  • Own technical engagement with customers during the trial phase, communicating Datadog's value based on activities
  • Work with customers to address any identified issues or concerns to successful conclusion
  • Deliver product and technical briefings to potential clients
  • Maintain accurate notes and feedback in CRM regarding customer input, including wins and losses
  • Proactively engage and communicate with customers and Datadog business and technical teams regarding product feedback and competitive landscape
  • Technically close complex opportunities through advanced competitive knowledge, technical skill, and credibility
  • Collaborate with the sales team to develop and execute sales strategies
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, competitors, and emerging technologies

What We Are Looking For

  • Passion for educating customers on observability risks that are meaningful to their business
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to understand and articulate both business benefits and technical advantages of Datadog's offering
  • Experience in programming or scripting languages such as Java, Python, Ruby, Go, Node.JS, PHP, or .NET
  • Minimum of 3+ years in a sales engineering or DevOps engineering role
  • Ability to sit for up to 4 hours and travel up to 45% of the time
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think creatively and outside the box
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines

Nice to Have

  • Experience with cloud-based technologies and infrastructure monitoring
  • Knowledge of Agile development methodologies and version control systems such as Git
  • Familiarity with Datadog's products and services
  • Certification in sales engineering or a related field
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams, including sales, marketing, and product development
