About the Role
The Enterprise Sales Engineer role at Datadog is a pivotal position that combines technical expertise with sales acumen to drive business growth. As a key member of the sales team, you will work closely with customers to understand their technical needs and demonstrate how Datadog's solutions can address these challenges. This role is critical in articulating the value proposition of Datadog's products and services, showcasing your ability to communicate complex technical information in a clear and concise manner.In this position, you will partner with the sales team to develop and execute strategies that meet customer needs, leveraging your technical knowledge to showcase Datadog's capabilities. You will also work closely with the product team to provide feedback and insights from customers, helping to inform product development and prioritize features.
The role requires a high degree of autonomy, with the ability to work remotely and travel as needed to meet with customers and partners. You will be an integral part of a dynamic team that values collaboration, creativity, and a customer-centric approach.
What You Will Do
- Partner with the sales team to articulate the overall Datadog value proposition, vision, and strategy to customers
- Own technical engagement with customers during the trial phase, communicating Datadog's value based on activities and working with customers on any identified issues or concerns to successful conclusion
- Technically close complex opportunities through advanced competitive knowledge, technical skill, and credibility
- Deliver product and technical briefings/presentations to potential clients
- Maintain accurate notes and feedback in CRM regarding customer input, both wins and losses
- Proactively engage and communicate with customers and Datadog business/technical teams regarding product feedback and competitive landscape
- Develop and execute evaluation plans with customers to showcase Datadog's solutions
- Collaborate with the product team to prioritize features based on customer feedback and market trends
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, competitor activity, and emerging technologies to maintain a high level of technical expertise
What We Are Looking For
- Passion for educating customers on observability risks meaningful to their business
- Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to understand and articulate both business benefits and technical advantages of Datadog's offering
- Experience in programming/scripting with languages such as Java, Python, Ruby, Go, Node.JS, PHP, and .NET
- Minimum of 3+ years in a Sales Engineering or DevOps Engineering role
- Ability to sit up to 4 hours, traveling to and from client sites
- Ability to travel via auto, train, or air up to 45% of the time
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex technical issues and develop creative solutions
- Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with multiple priorities and deadlines
Nice to Have
- Experience with cloud-based solutions and SaaS products
- Knowledge of DevOps practices and methodologies
- Certification in sales engineering or a related field
- Experience working with CRM systems and sales automation tools
