About the Role
The Enterprise Sales Engineer role at Datadog is a unique opportunity to leverage technical expertise to drive sales growth. As a key member of the sales team, you will provide critical support in sales presentations, product demonstrations, and technical evaluations. Your deep understanding of Datadog's products and services will enable you to articulate the value proposition to customers and partners effectively. You will be working closely with the sales team to identify and pursue new business opportunities. Your role will also involve collaborating with the product team to provide feedback from customers and competitors, helping to shape the product roadmap. The sales engineering team at Datadog is known for its collaborative and dynamic environment, where technical expertise and creativity are valued.What You Will Do
- Partner with the Sales team to articulate the overall Datadog value proposition, vision, and strategy to customers
- Own technical engagement with customers during the trial phase, communicating Datadog's value based on activities and working with customers on any identified issues or concerns to a successful conclusion
- Technically close complex opportunities through advanced competitive knowledge, technical skill, and credibility
- Deliver product and technical briefings/presentations to potential clients
- Maintain accurate notes and feedback in CRM regarding customer input, both wins and losses
- Proactively engage and communicate with customers and Datadog business/technical teams regarding product feedback and competitive landscape
- Develop and execute evaluation plans with customers to demonstrate the value of Datadog's solutions
- Provide technical support for sales teams, including product demos and proofs of concept
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies to maintain a competitive edge
What We Are Looking For
- Passion for educating customers on observability risks that are meaningful to their business
- Strong written and oral communication skills to articulate both the business benefits and technical advantages of our offering
- Experience in programming/scripting with languages such as Java, Python, Ruby, Go, Node.JS, PHP, and .NET
- Minimum of 3+ years in a Sales Engineering or DevOps Engineering role
- Ability to sit up to 4 hours, traveling to and from client sites
- Ability to travel via auto, train, or air up to 45% of the time
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to tackle complex technical issues
- Experience with Excel and other productivity tools
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities
Nice to Have
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
- Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools such as CI/CD pipelines
- Certification in sales engineering or a related field
- Experience with data analytics and visualization tools
