About the Role

The Enterprise Sales Engineer position at Datadog is a dynamic and challenging role that requires a unique blend of technical expertise, sales acumen, and interpersonal skills. As a key member of the sales team, you will provide technical guidance and support to customers and internal stakeholders, helping to drive business growth and revenue expansion. Your day-to-day activities will involve working closely with the sales team to develop and deliver tailored sales presentations, product demonstrations, and technical evaluations that meet the specific needs of each customer.

The role is critical to the success of Datadog, as it requires building trust and credibility with customers, understanding their technical requirements, and providing solutions that meet their needs. You will be the technical expert and voice of the customer within the organization, providing feedback to the product team to inform the development of new features and solutions.

What You Will Do

  • Partner with the sales team to articulate the overall Datadog value proposition, vision, and strategy to customers
  • Own technical engagement with customers during the trial phase, communicating Datadog’s value and working to successful conclusion
  • Deliver product and technical briefings/presentations to potential clients, leveraging your technical expertise to build credibility and trust
  • Maintain accurate notes and feedback in CRM regarding customer input, both wins and losses
  • Proactively engage and communicate with customers and Datadog business/technical teams regarding product feedback and competitive landscape
  • Develop and execute evaluation plans with customers, identifying areas of value and opportunity for growth
  • Collaborate with internal teams to resolve technical issues and concerns, providing timely and effective solutions
  • Provide input to the product team on customer and market requirements, helping to inform the development of new features and solutions
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of Datadog’s products and services, as well as those of key competitors
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and developments, applying this knowledge to drive innovation and growth

What We Are Looking For

  • A minimum of 3+ years of experience in a Sales Engineering or DevOps Engineering role
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Experience with programming/scripting languages such as Java, Python, Ruby, Go, Node.JS, PHP, and .NET
  • A strong understanding of cloud computing, infrastructure, and DevOps practices
  • Ability to travel up to 45% of the time, including international travel
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with multiple stakeholders and priorities
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to think critically and creatively
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong sense of collaboration and teamwork
  • Passion for educating customers on observability risks and opportunities, with a strong focus on customer success

  • Experience working with CRM systems and sales tools
  • Knowledge of competitive landscapes and market trends
  • Experience with data analysis and interpretation, with the ability to inform sales and product strategies
