About the Role
The EPC Substation Engineering Manager role at Leidos is a unique opportunity for an experienced professional to lead a team of engineers and technicians on dynamic EPC projects. As a key member of the Power Delivery Solutions division, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the EPC Solutions protection and control, substation physical, CAD, and SCADA/settings teams. Your primary focus will be on delivering high-quality results, ensuring client satisfaction, and driving business growth.As a seasoned engineering manager, you will have the opportunity to work on complex substation projects, collaborating with cross-functional teams to design and deliver comprehensive solutions. What You Will Do
- Lead and manage a team of engineers and technicians on EPC projects, providing technical guidance, mentorship, and support.
- Develop and execute project plans, budgets, and schedules, ensuring timely and within-budget delivery of projects.
- Collaborate with clients to understand their needs and develop tailored solutions that meet their requirements.
- Prepare and review proposals, technical write-ups, and project approach documents for small, medium, and large EPC projects.
- Build and maintain relationships with clients, team members, and stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
- Provide technical oversight, direction, and support for project teams, ensuring high-quality results and compliance with industry standards.
- Develop and implement process improvements, increasing efficiency and reducing costs.
- Manage and resolve design conflicts, ensuring that projects are delivered on time and within budget.
- Collaborate with internal teams, including talent acquisition, human resources, project management, and finance, to align team objectives with company goals.
What We Are Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited university, with 8+ years of relevant experience in utility substation/P&C engineering.
- Professional Engineer (PE) certification required.
- Experience in both substation electrical physical and P&C design, leading substation projects, and performing QA/QC reviews.
- Expertise with proposal and pricing development creation.
- Experience with staff training/mentorship and client-facing settings.
- Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.
- Strong technical skills, including proficiency in CAD, SCADA, and other relevant software.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients and team members.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to resolve design conflicts and manage complex projects.
Nice to Have
- Project Manager Professional (PMP) certification.
- Active membership in national engineering societies and work-groups (IEEE, PES, etc.).
- Experience with business development and client relationship management.
- Knowledge of industry trends and developments, including emerging technologies and innovations.
