About the Role
The ETL Tester role at Datavail is a critical component of the company's data management strategy. As a senior member of the data quality assurance team, you will be responsible for designing and executing comprehensive data validation strategies to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of data across various cloud data warehouses. Your expertise in ETL testing, data warehousing, and SQL will enable the company to make informed business decisions and drive growth.The day-to-day responsibilities of this role will involve collaborating with data engineers, analysts, and product teams to understand business rules and data transformations. You will also be responsible for developing and optimizing complex SQL queries for data validation and analysis, as well as performing functional, regression, and integration testing for data workflows.
As a key member of the team, you will be expected to mentor junior QA engineers and drive QA best practices. Your ability to identify defects, track issues, and ensure timely resolution will be critical to the success of the company's data management strategy.
What You Will Do
- Design and execute end-to-end data validation strategies for ETL/ELT pipelines
- Validate data accuracy, completeness, and integrity across cloud data warehouses
- Develop and optimize complex SQL queries for data validation and analysis
- Perform functional, regression, and integration testing for data workflows
- Collaborate with data engineers, analysts, and product teams to understand business rules and data transformations
- Build and maintain automated test frameworks for data validation
- Ensure adherence to data quality standards and governance policies
- Identify defects, track issues, and ensure timely resolution
- Mentor junior QA engineers and drive QA best practices
- Develop and maintain technical documentation for data validation and testing processes
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies in data management and testing
What We Are Looking For
- Strong experience in Data QA / ETL Testing (6+ years preferred)
- Hands-on experience with modern cloud data warehouses, such as Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, Azure Synapse, and Microsoft Fabric
- Excellent SQL skills, including complex joins, window functions, and aggregations
- Experience testing ETL/ELT pipelines using tools like Airflow, DBT, and Informatica
- Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts, including Star/Snowflake schemas
- Experience with data lakes and lakehouse architectures
- Familiarity with API and backend testing
- Experience with test automation tools or scripting (Python preferred)
- Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices

- Experience with cloud-based data integration platforms
- Knowledge of data governance and compliance regulations
- Familiarity with agile development methodologies
- Experience with data visualization tools, such as Tableau or Power BI
