About the Role

The Facilities Technician role at Optimum is a critical position that ensures the smooth operation of the company's facilities in Kingston. What You Will Do

  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs of facilities, including electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues, including identifying and repairing faulty equipment
  • Conduct regular inspections of facilities to identify potential issues and take proactive measures to prevent them
  • Collaborate with other teams to ensure that facilities are safe, efficient, and well-maintained
  • Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs to minimize downtime and reduce costs
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, schedules, and inventory
  • Assist in the development and implementation of emergency procedures, including evacuation plans and first aid kits
  • Perform carpentry, painting, and other general maintenance tasks as required
  • Operate and maintain a range of equipment, including power tools, pumps, and generators
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations and standards

What We Are Looking For

  • At least 3 years of experience in a related field, including facilities maintenance, electrical, plumbing, or HVAC
  • Completed diploma from an accredited institution in a relevant field
  • Specialized skill trade in at least one area, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, painting, or carpentry
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures
  • Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade
  • Record maintenance skills, with the ability to maintain accurate records of work performed
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow safety procedures and protocols
  • Knowledge of one or more building trades, including electrical, plumbing, or HVAC

  • Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)
