About the Role

As a Family Law Attorney at Orion Placement, you will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of family law cases, from divorce and child custody to prenuptial agreements and domestic violence matters. What You Will Do

  • Represent clients in all areas of family law, including divorce, child custody, parenting time, child support, spousal support/alimony, and prenuptial agreements
  • Prepare and draft legal documents, including pleadings, motions, marital settlement agreements, contracts, judgments, and orders
  • Appear in court on behalf of clients as needed, presenting arguments clearly and persuasively
  • Collaborate with senior partners and paralegals to move files efficiently through the civil litigation process
  • Analyze complex family situations, develop strategy, and advocate effectively for each client's unique needs
  • Manage and maintain client files with accuracy, thoroughness, and attention to detail
  • Handle matters involving sensitive issues, including child abuse, domestic violence, and high-conflict custody, with professionalism and composure
  • Develop and implement effective case plans, taking into account the client's goals, needs, and circumstances
  • Communicate effectively with clients, providing regular updates and guidance throughout the legal process

What We Are Looking For

  • Active Illinois Bar license
  • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school
  • 4+ years of family law experience at a law firm
  • Demonstrated success representing clients in divorce, custody, support, and related family law matters
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong negotiation and advocacy abilities
  • Ability to maintain composure and professionalism in high-stress, emotionally sensitive situations
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage a high-volume caseload
  • Proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft Office applications

Nice to Have

  • Experience with case management software
  • Knowledge of Illinois family law and court procedures
  • Certification in family law or a related area
