The Federal Work Study - Peer Tutor position at Academy of Art University is designed to provide academic support to undergraduate students in fashion courses. What You Will Do
- Provide one-on-one or small group tutoring sessions for course FSH 100 and/or 105
- Assist students with understanding course concepts, assignments, and exam preparation while encouraging independent problem-solving
- Maintain professionalism, punctuality, and confidentiality in all tutoring interactions
- Prepare for tutoring sessions by reviewing course materials and coordinating with students as needed
- Accurately track tutoring hours and complete required Federal Work-Study documentation
- Communicate regularly with the tutoring coordinator or supervising staff regarding student progress, scheduling, and concerns
- Participate in required training sessions
- Uphold institutional academic integrity policies
- Develop and implement effective study strategies and learning plans for students
- Collaborate with faculty members to ensure alignment with course learning objectives
What We Are Looking For
- Must be a junior or senior or graduate student in the assigned program
- Must maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Must have passed the class for which they are tutoring with a B or higher
- Strong subject matter knowledge in fashion courses
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other productivity software
- Experience with online tutoring platforms and digital tools
- Strong organizational and time management skills
