## About the Role The Field Reliability Engineer at Honeycomb.io plays a vital role in ensuring the company's customer-facing managed infrastructure operates smoothly. This includes managing Refinery as a Service (RaaS) and Honeycomb Private Cloud (HnyPC) deployments across multiple AWS accounts and regions. As a key member of the Platform Engineering team, you will be responsible for building and maintaining Terraform modules, Helm charts, and deployment automation. Your work will have a direct impact on Honeycomb's ability to deliver high-quality services to its clients. The role is part of a fully distributed company, which means you will be working remotely and collaborating with a team of highly skilled professionals. As the company continues to grow and expand its services, the Field Reliability Engineer will be at the forefront of this effort, working closely with the engineering team to identify and resolve issues, and implementing new solutions to improve the overall reliability of Honeycomb's infrastructure. ## What You Will Do - Manage and operate customer-facing managed infrastructure, including RaaS and HnyPC deployments - Build and maintain Terraform modules, Helm charts, and deployment automation for provisioning and management - Collaborate with the engineering team to identify and resolve issues with Honeycomb's infrastructure - Implement new solutions to improve the overall reliability of Honeycomb's infrastructure - Work with AWS accounts and regions to ensure seamless deployment and management - Develop and maintain documentation for infrastructure and deployment processes - Participate in on-call rotations to provide 24/7 support for Honeycomb's infrastructure - Collaborate with the sales team to understand customer needs and provide feedback to the engineering team - Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in cloud infrastructure and managed services - Participate in code reviews and provide feedback to the engineering team ## What We Are Looking For - 5+ years of experience in a similar role, with a focus on cloud infrastructure and managed services - Strong knowledge of Terraform, Helm, and deployment automation - Experience working with AWS accounts and regions - Strong understanding of cloud security and compliance - Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail - Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively - Strong communication and collaboration skills - Experience with containerization and orchestration (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) - Familiarity with observability tools and practices ## Nice to Have - Experience with other cloud providers (e.g., GCP, Azure) - Knowledge of programming languages (e.g., Python, Java) - Experience with agile development methodologies - Certification in cloud infrastructure or related fields (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect) ## Benefits and Perks - Competitive salary and equity package - Opportunity to work with a fully distributed company and collaborate with a talented team - Comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance and retirement plan - Generous PTO policy and flexible working hours - Access to the latest tools and technologies - Professional development opportunities, including training and conference sponsorships - Remote work stipend and equipment allowance - Recognition and rewards for outstanding performance
