About the Role

The Field Service Engineer position at GE Vernova is a critical role that requires a unique blend of technical expertise and customer-facing skills. As a Field Service Engineer, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing AC/DC motors and generators, as well as providing technical support to customers. You will be part of a team that is passionate about delivering exceptional customer service and ensuring that our products are running at optimal levels.

The role entails working on a wide range of electrical rotating machines, from large industrial motors to smaller generators. You will be required to work independently, as well as part of a team, to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues. Your excellent communication skills will be essential in this role, as you will be interacting with customers, colleagues, and other stakeholders on a regular basis.

What You Will Do

  • Install and maintain AC/DC motors and generators
  • Perform electrical tests, including insulation resistance, winding resistance, and voltage drop tests
  • Conduct borescope inspections, neutral zone adjustments, and brush and brush holders' tests
  • Perform start-up and commissioning of motors and generators
  • Execute assembly and disassembly of electrical components, such as cables, capacitors, and surge arresters
  • Conduct mechanical inspections, including dimensional control, sleeve and roller bearings, and air-gap inspections
  • Perform shaft alignments, including flexible and solid couplings
  • Execute assembly and disassembly of mechanical components, such as rotors, stators, and heat exchangers
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues
  • Provide technical support to customers

What We Are Looking For

  • Mechanical Fitter, Mechanical Diploma, or Mechanical Graduate Engineer degree
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience working with mechanical maintenance of large and medium rotating machines
  • Experience with installation of large motors and erection service and retrofit of medium voltage DC/AC motors
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Willingness to travel up to 85% of the time
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills

Nice to Have

  • Experience with vibration testing and analysis
  • Knowledge of precision equipment, such as dial indicators and depth gauges
  • Experience with interpreting schematics, engineering drawings, and wiring prints
