About the Role
The Field Service Trainer role at GILLIG is a unique opportunity to combine technical expertise with instructional skills, delivering high-quality training to transit agencies on the safe operation, maintenance, and diagnosis of GILLIG vehicles. As a customer-facing position, this role requires strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively in a variety of settings, from customer locations to real-world service environments. The Field Service Trainer will be an integral part of GILLIG's Customer Care organization, working closely with the Technical Training team to ensure that customers are equipped to maximize vehicle uptime and performance.As a Field Service Trainer, you will be responsible for delivering instructor-led and hands-on technical training, ensuring that customers are confident in their ability to operate and maintain their fleets. This will involve collaborating with cross-functional teams, including Instructional Design, Engineering, and Technical Support, to ensure that training delivery aligns with current product configurations and service expectations. With a focus on continuous improvement, you will identify areas for skill development and provide feedback to the Instructional Design team to enhance training materials.
What You Will Do
- Deliver instructor-led and hands-on technical training at customer locations, GILLIG facilities, and in field environments
- Facilitate training across mechanical, electrical, and high-voltage systems, reinforcing safe work practices and proper diagnostic procedures
- Lead practical, shop-based exercises focused on troubleshooting, repair processes, and real-world application of service documentation
- Serve as the primary customer point of contact during training engagements, managing communication, coordination, and overall training experience
- Act as a GILLIG brand ambassador, building strong relationships with customers and reinforcing confidence in GILLIG products and support
- Identify technician skill gaps and provide feedback to the Instructional Design team to enhance training materials
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that training delivery aligns with current product configurations and service expectations
- Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of GILLIG products and services, including technical specifications and operational requirements

- Experience with Salesforce and Excel

- 2+ years of experience in a related field, such as technical training or field service
- High school diploma or equivalent required; degree in a related field preferred
