About the Role
The FIFO Fitters role at Allstaff Resources is a unique opportunity to work on a short-term project at the Olympic Dam, with the potential for continuation of rostered work. As a Fitter, you will be responsible for performing maintenance and repair work on mining equipment, ensuring the smooth operation of the mine. You will work collaboratively with existing crews, contributing your skills and experience to the team.The Olympic Dam is a significant mining operation, and this role offers the chance to work on a large-scale project. The mine is known for its complex equipment and systems, requiring skilled professionals like Fitters to keep everything running efficiently. As a Fitter, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of equipment, from heavy machinery to complex mechanical systems.
What You Will Do
- Perform maintenance and repair work on mining equipment, including troubleshooting and fault diagnosis
- Collaborate with existing crews to complete tasks efficiently and effectively
- Work safely and follow all safety procedures and guidelines
- Use a variety of hand and power tools to complete tasks
- Read and interpret technical drawings and diagrams
- Inspect and test equipment to ensure it is in good working order
- Keep accurate records of work completed and maintenance schedules
- Participate in training and development opportunities to improve skills and knowledge
- Work at heights and in confined spaces, as required
- Use computer systems to track work orders and maintenance schedules
What We Are Looking For
- Trade-qualified Fitters with experience working in remote or FIFO environments
- Current Pre-Employment Medical (within 12 months) or willing to obtain
- BHP Olympic Dam inducted (desirable)
- Current High-risk license
- Valid Drivers license
- Working at Heights or Confined space (issued within 3 years)
- Experience working with mining equipment and machinery
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
Nice to Have
- Experience working with computer systems and software, such as maintenance management systems
- Knowledge of safety procedures and guidelines, such as risk assessments and hazard reporting
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and deadlines
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
