## About the Role As a Finance Manager, R&D at Twilio, you will be the primary strategic architect for the financial future of the Messaging channel. This high-impact role requires a deep understanding of financial modeling, analysis, and planning. You will act as the lead strategic finance partner for the Messaging leadership team, providing financial governance to turn technical product roadmaps into sustainable growth. Your influence will be enterprise-wide, and you will own a portfolio of strategic special projects, leading cross-functional teams to solve Twilio's most complex scaling challenges.
The role entails working closely with the R&D and Messaging teams to understand their financial needs and develop strategic plans to drive growth and margins. You will be responsible for defining, tracking, and reporting on key performance indicators (KPIs) for the Messaging channel, identifying areas for cost optimization, and developing financial models to evaluate product launches and pricing changes.
Twilio is a remote-first company, and as a Finance Manager, you will be working independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams to drive business outcomes. You will be reporting to the Finance Director and will be an integral part of the Product Finance team.
## What You Will Do - Serve as the lead finance partner to VP and Director level R&D leaders - Define, track, and report on KPIs for the Messaging channel - Build complex financial models to evaluate product launches and pricing changes - Own the full forecast for Messaging channels, including top-line volume and COGS - Lead the monthly/quarterly close process for your business units, providing clear variance analysis and actionable insights to senior leadership - Act as a flexible resource for the Finance Director to lead high-stakes, cross-platform initiatives - Develop and maintain financial models to support business decisions - Identify areas for cost optimization and develop plans to implement cost-saving initiatives - Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement strategic plans - Provide financial guidance and support to the R&D and Messaging teams
## What We Are Looking For - 5+ years of experience in finance, preferably in the tech industry - Strong understanding of financial modeling, analysis, and planning - Experience with financial planning and analysis tools, such as Excel and Google Sheets - Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote-first environment - Strong communication and presentation skills - Ability to think strategically and drive business outcomes - Experience working with cross-functional teams, including R&D and product teams - Strong understanding of business operations and financial management - Ability to develop and maintain complex financial models
## Nice to Have - Experience with data analysis and visualization tools, such as Tableau or Power BI - Knowledge of programming languages, such as Python or SQL - Experience with cloud-based financial planning and analysis tools, such as Anaplan or Adaptive Insights - Certification in finance, such as CFA or CPA - Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
