About the Role
The Finance and Project Operations Intern role at Ameresco is an exciting opportunity to work with a leading energy solutions provider. As a key member of the team, you will provide day-to-day financial and operational support for projects and business activities. This role is ideal for someone early in their finance career who is detail-oriented, organized, and interested in building hands-on experience in finance and project operations. You will work closely with project managers, finance team members, and operations staff to support reporting and administrative project tasks. In this role, you will be responsible for tracking project costs, maintaining accurate financial data, and supporting the National Operations Improvement Initiative. You will also have the opportunity to work on project closeout documentation, ensuring financial records are complete and accurate throughout the project lifecycle. - Assist with financial analysis and reporting tasks under the guidance of experienced professionals
- Perform various coordinating tasks associated with project closeout activities
- Conduct research and gather data to support decision-making processes
- Collaborate with various teams to complete projects and tasks within deadlines
- Help maintain accurate and organized financial records and documents
- Take on special projects and assignments as needed
- Deliver finished results within established deadlines
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures, ensuring confidentiality and professionalism at all times
- Support the Purchasing & Accounting Specialist with day-to-day tasks
- Develop and maintain spreadsheets to track project costs and financial data
- Assist with the preparation of project reports and presentations
What We Are Looking For
- University student with a strong foundation in finance and business operations
- Excellent time management and communication skills
- Experience with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel
- Ability to work independently to complete tasks
- Strong communication skills to provide progress updates and seek guidance when needed
- Previous finance internship and/or relevant work experience
- Detail-oriented and organized, with a strong attention to detail
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
Nice to Have
- Experience with project management software and tools
- Knowledge of energy efficiency and sustainability principles
- Familiarity with financial analysis and reporting concepts
- Certification in a related field, such as finance or accounting
