About the Role
The Financial Clearance Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring that patients receive the best possible care while also managing the financial aspects of their treatment. This involves working closely with patients, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to facilitate the pre-authorization of diagnostic exams and treatments. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate patient records, communicating with insurance providers, and ensuring that all necessary paperwork is completed in a timely manner.Day-to-day, the Financial Clearance Specialist will be working in a fast-paced environment, responding to patient inquiries, and resolving any issues that may arise. This will require strong communication skills, both written and verbal, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team environment. The Financial Clearance Specialist will also be responsible for staying up-to-date with the latest developments in the healthcare industry, including changes to insurance policies and regulatory requirements.
The Financial Clearance Specialist will be working as part of a larger team, reporting to a Team Lead or Operations Coordinator. This will involve collaborating with other healthcare professionals, including nurses, doctors, and administrative staff, to ensure that patients receive seamless care.
What You Will Do
- Respond to patient inquiries and resolve any issues that may arise
- Maintain accurate patient records, including demographic information and insurance details
- Communicate with insurance providers to facilitate pre-authorization of diagnostic exams and treatments
- Ensure that all necessary paperwork is completed in a timely manner
- Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in the healthcare industry, including changes to insurance policies and regulatory requirements
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure that patients receive seamless care
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations
- Data entry accuracy is imperative in this position
- Monitor Referral In-Basket in EPIC to ensure work is consistently completed in a timely manner
What We Are Looking For
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Knowledge of electronic medical records and insurance billing systems
- Experience working in a healthcare environment, preferably in a financial clearance role
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to stay organized and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid rules and regulations, and managed care products
- Familiarity with CPT and ICD-10 coding
- High school diploma or equivalent required, degree in a related field preferred
