About the Role
The Financial Systems Lead role at Ramp is a unique opportunity to build and own the financial systems that power the company's operations. As a key member of the finance team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing AI-powered financial tools that streamline financial processes and improve efficiency. With a focus on sub-ledgers, reconciliation, and close automation, this role requires a deep understanding of financial systems and a passion for building innovative solutions.The finance team at Ramp is committed to using the company's own product to manage its finances, making this a exciting opportunity for those who want to build and own financial systems end-to-end. You will work closely with the Controller, accountants, and treasury analysts to understand their pain points and develop solutions that meet their needs.
As a Financial Systems Lead, you will be expected to have a strong technical background, with experience in AI-native dev tools and a fluency in financial domain expertise. You will be responsible for leading engineers through prototypes, not documents, and setting direction by showing, not telling.
What You Will Do
- Build internal financial systems, including sub-ledgers, reconciliation tools, and close automation
- Design and build AI-powered tools that make financial professionals faster and more efficient
- Work directly with the finance team to understand their pain points and develop solutions that meet their needs
- Lead engineers through prototypes, not documents, and set direction by showing, not telling
- Own outcomes, not roadmaps, and have fungible scope across the Financial Systems portfolio
- Develop and implement treasury and FP&A tooling as needed
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of financial systems
- Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in AI and financial technology
What We Are Looking For
- At least 5 years of experience in a product-building role, with a focus on financial systems and AI-powered tools
- Deep financial domain expertise, with experience in accounting, FP&A, treasury, or financial operations
- Fluency in AI-native dev tools, with strong opinions on the toolchain and experience shipping features or tools using LLMs
- Strong product judgment and first-principles thinking, especially at the intersection of structured financial data, complex systems, and user workflows
- Ability to translate between technical and finance audiences, synthesizing accounting requirements into software architecture and vice versa
- Experience with ERP systems, such as NetSuite, Intacct, or Workday, is a plus
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams

- Experience with cloud-based financial systems and AI-powered financial tools
- Knowledge of financial regulations and compliance requirements
- Familiarity with agile development methodologies and version control systems
