About the Role

As a Forward Deployed Engineer at Twilio, you will be an integral part of the GTM Innovation team, working closely with top global customers to accelerate the adoption of new solutions and platform capabilities. Your primary focus will be on delivering technical engagements end-to-end, from scoping solution architecture to launching the first live use case. You will be the technical conduit between Twilio's innovation team and the customer, surfacing product signals and field insights that directly influence Twilio's core R&D roadmaps.

The role requires a unique blend of technical expertise, business acumen, and customer-centric approach. You will be working with a range of stakeholders, from customer engineers to sales teams, to drive the adoption of new solutions and shape customer experiences. Your ability to communicate complex technical concepts in a clear and concise manner will be essential in this role.

What You Will Do

  • Lead technical engagements end-to-end, from scoping solution architecture to launching the first live use case
  • Write and ship production code directly in customer codebases, designing APIs, integrating with existing customer architecture, and building proper error handling, observability, and test coverage
  • Architect solutions that pass customer Infosec, security, and Architecture Review Board (ARB) review, translating security and compliance requirements into concrete implementation decisions
  • Lead high-energy customer hackathons and builder activation events to accelerate the adoption of new solutions
  • Build and maintain reusable technical assets, such as reference implementations, starter apps, SDKs, sample repos, and companion engineering guides
  • Partner with Enterprise Architects and Demo Platform Engineering to turn high-level reference architectures into working, deployable code
  • Evangelize Twilio within the B2B builder communities of target accounts, driving build and adoption of new solutions
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including sales, marketing, and product, to drive the adoption of new solutions and shape customer experiences
  • Provide technical feedback and insights to Twilio's product and engineering teams, shaping the company's R&D roadmaps

What We Are Looking For

  • 5+ years of experience in a technical role, with a focus on software development, engineering, or a related field
  • Strong technical skills, including proficiency in languages such as Python, TypeScript, and Node
  • Experience working with enterprise customers, preferably in a technical role
  • Strong understanding of cloud-based technologies, including AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies and version control systems such as Git
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Experience with security and compliance requirements, including Infosec and ARB review
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex technical issues and develop creative solutions
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with the ability to adapt to changing priorities and requirements

Nice to Have

  • Experience working with Twilio's products and services
  • Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools, such as Docker, Kubernetes, and Jenkins
  • Experience with data analytics and visualization tools, such as Tableau or Power BI
  • Familiarity with machine learning and AI technologies, including TensorFlow or PyTorch
  • Experience working in a remote-first environment, with a strong ability to work independently and collaboratively
