About the Role
As a Forward Deployed Engineer at Gitlab, you will play a critical role in driving customer adoption and technical solutions for the company's strategic accounts in the APJ region. This will involve working closely with customers to understand their technical needs, designing and implementing solutions to meet those needs, and collaborating with internal teams to ensure that customer feedback is incorporated into the product development process.The role will require a deep understanding of Gitlab's products and services, as well as the ability to work effectively with customers to identify and prioritize their technical needs. You will be expected to use your technical expertise to design and implement solutions that meet customer needs, while also identifying opportunities to improve the overall customer experience.
As a member of the Forward Deployed Engineering team, you will be part of a group of highly skilled engineers who are passionate about delivering exceptional customer outcomes. You will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects, from designing and implementing complex technical solutions to collaborating with internal teams to develop new products and services.
What You Will Do
- Conduct deep technical discovery in selected strategic accounts to assess platform readiness, evaluate constraints, and identify high-value adoption opportunities across Gitlab and Gitlab Duo Agent Platform.
- Lead architecture and delivery design for complex enterprise environments where platform migration, regulated requirements, and product boundaries intersect.
- Partner with customer stakeholders and Gitlab account teams to prioritize use cases based on business impact, technical feasibility, repeatability, and long-term platform value.
- Design and build bounded proofs, prototypes, deployment patterns, and reusable accelerators across source code management, CI/CD, security, compliance, and AI-enabled workflows.
- Architect self-managed and enterprise deployments, including regulated environments, to ensure seamless integration and optimal performance.
- Collaborate with internal teams, including product management, engineering, and sales, to ensure that customer feedback is incorporated into the product development process.
- Develop and maintain technical relationships with key customer stakeholders, including technical decision-makers and influencers.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in the industry, including new technologies and emerging trends, and apply this knowledge to drive innovation and improvement in the company's products and services.
What We Are Looking For
- 5+ years of experience in a similar role, with a strong background in software development, engineering, or a related field.
- Strong technical skills, including proficiency in languages such as Java, Python, or C++, and experience with cloud-based platforms such as AWS or Azure.
- Experience working with customers to design and implement technical solutions, with a strong focus on customer satisfaction and outcomes.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with internal teams and external customers.
- Experience with Agile development methodologies and version control systems such as Git.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex technical problems and develop creative solutions.
- Experience working in a remote or distributed team environment, with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
Nice to Have
- Experience working with Gitlab products and services, including Gitlab Duo Agent Platform.
- Knowledge of DevSecOps practices and tools, including security and compliance frameworks.
- Experience working in a regulated environment, with knowledge of relevant laws and regulations.
