## About the Role The Forward Deployed Engineer role at Gitlab is a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of customer outcomes, product direction, and hands-on engineering. This role is focused on strategic accounts in the APJ region, where you will help customers adopt GitLab and the GitLab Duo Agent Platform in complex enterprise environments. You will be responsible for guiding deep technical discovery, designing practical adoption paths, and building reusable solutions that help customers move from early platform use into broader CI/CD, security, compliance, and AI-enabled workflows. As a Forward Deployed Engineer, you will be working closely with customer stakeholders and GitLab account teams to prioritize use cases based on business impact, technical feasibility, repeatability, and long-term platform value. Your work will help reduce time to value for strategic customers while improving how GitLab scales adoption across similar environments. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, with experience in hands-on engineering and a deep understanding of complex enterprise environments. You will be expected to incorporate AI into your daily workflows to drive efficiency, innovation, and impact. ## What You Will Do - Conduct deep technical discovery in selected strategic accounts to assess platform readiness, evaluate constraints, and identify high-value adoption opportunities across GitLab and GitLab Duo Agent Platform.

  • Lead architecture and delivery design for complex enterprise environments where platform migration, regulated requirements, and product boundaries intersect.
  • Partner with customer stakeholders and GitLab account teams to prioritize use cases based on business impact, technical feasibility, repeatability, and long-term platform value.
  • Design and build bounded proofs, prototypes, deployment patterns, and reusable accelerators across source code management, CI/CD, security, compliance, and AI-enabled workflows.
  • Architect self-managed and enterprise deployments, including regulated-environment deployment accelerators for GitLab Duo Agent Platform.
  • Identify geo-replication gaps in self-managed deployments and contribute targeted code or design changes upstream.
  • Author reusable reference architectures for AI Gateway, identity, runners, network boundaries, model connectivity, and governance controls.
  • Collaborate with product and engineering teams to shape architecture patterns and influence upstream product decisions.
  • Develop and maintain technical assets, including documentation, guides, and training materials.
## What We Are Looking For - 5+ years of experience in hands-on engineering, with a focus on complex enterprise environments.
  • Strong technical background, with experience in CI/CD, security, compliance, and AI-enabled workflows.
  • Experience with GitLab and GitLab Duo Agent Platform, or similar technologies.
  • Ability to incorporate AI into daily workflows to drive efficiency, innovation, and impact.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with experience working with customer stakeholders and account teams.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate complex technical issues and develop creative solutions.
  • Experience with regulated-environment deployment accelerators and self-managed deployments.
  • Knowledge of industry trends and emerging technologies, with a focus on DevSecOps and digital transformation.

  • Knowledge of cloud-based technologies, including AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Experience with agile development methodologies and version control systems.
