About the Role
The Forward Deployed Engineer role at Gitlab is a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of customer outcomes, product direction, and hands-on engineering. As a key member of the team, you will focus on strategic accounts in the APJ region, helping customers adopt Gitlab and the GitLab Duo Agent Platform in complex enterprise environments. Your work will involve guiding deep technical discovery, designing practical adoption paths, and building reusable solutions to help customers move from early platform use into broader CI/CD, security, compliance, and AI-enabled workflows.The role is not a traditional consulting position, but rather an opportunity to use customer issues to create durable technical assets, shape architecture patterns, and influence upstream product and engineering decisions. Your work will have a direct impact on reducing time to value for strategic customers while improving how Gitlab scales adoption across similar environments.

What You Will Do
- Conduct deep technical discovery in selected strategic accounts to assess platform readiness, evaluate constraints, and identify high-value adoption opportunities
- Lead architecture and delivery design for complex enterprise environments where platform migration, regulated requirements, and product boundaries intersect
- Partner with customer stakeholders and Gitlab account teams to prioritize use cases based on business impact, technical feasibility, repeatability, and long-term platform value
- Design and build bounded proofs, prototypes, deployment patterns, and reusable accelerators across source code management, CI/CD, security, compliance, and AI-enabled workflows
- Architect self-managed and enterprise deployments, including regulated environments and constrained deployments
- Collaborate with the product and engineering teams to influence upstream product and engineering decisions
- Develop and maintain deep technical knowledge of Gitlab and the GitLab Duo Agent Platform
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies in DevSecOps and AI-enabled workflows
- Provide technical guidance and support to customers and internal stakeholders
- Develop and deliver technical presentations and training sessions
What We Are Looking For
- 5+ years of experience in a similar engineering role, with a focus on complex deployments and customer-facing work
- Deep technical knowledge of DevSecOps, CI/CD, security, compliance, and AI-enabled workflows
- Experience with cloud-based platforms, including AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud
- Strong understanding of enterprise architecture and design patterns
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and projects
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex technical issues and develop creative solutions
- Experience with Agile development methodologies and version control systems, such as Git
- Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and compliance frameworks, such as HIPAA and PCI-DSS
Nice to Have
- Experience with Gitlab and the GitLab Duo Agent Platform
- Knowledge of machine learning and AI-enabled workflows
- Experience with containerization and orchestration tools, such as Docker and Kubernetes
- Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools, such as Jenkins and Puppet
