About the Role

The Founding Designer at Leap is a pivotal role that will define how the company presents itself to patients and families. This designer will be responsible for creating a cohesive experience across marketing, onboarding, education, therapy support, and reactivation, ensuring that Leap's message is consistent, credible, and easy to understand. The ideal candidate will be someone who can navigate the complexities of healthcare while maintaining a user-centered approach to design.

Leap operates in a category that is both clinically nuanced and emotionally sensitive. The Founding Designer will need to balance the need for clarity and simplicity with the complexity of the information being communicated. This role will involve close collaboration with various teams, including Member Growth, care teams, clinical operations, product, and content, to ensure that the patient experience is seamless and supportive.

The day-to-day responsibilities of this role will be varied, ranging from designing direct-response campaigns and improving member activation through high-performing creative, to building systems that allow great design to scale. The Founding Designer will need to be adaptable, able to move fluidly between strategy and execution, and have the range to be an exceptional creative partner across different disciplines.

What You Will Do

  • Define Leap's patient-facing design standard, ensuring consistency across all touchpoints.
  • Design the end-to-end member journey to understand where patients are confused, skeptical, overwhelmed, or dropping off, and turn those insights into clearer, lower-friction experiences.
  • Build the systems that let great design scale, including reusable patterns, components, templates, QA processes, AI-assisted workflows, and production standards.
  • Improve member activation through high-performing creative, with every decision tied to clarity, trust, conversion, and action.
  • Collaborate with the Member Growth team to create campaigns and member communications that introduce Leap, earn trust quickly, and make the next step feel clear.
  • Work with care teams and clinical operations to understand patient needs and design solutions that address those needs.
  • Design landing pages, improve direct mail concepts, and tighten message hierarchies to ensure clear and effective communication.
  • Develop and maintain a reusable pattern library that the whole team can use.
  • Conduct user research to inform design decisions and improve the patient experience.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest design trends and technologies, applying that knowledge to continuously improve Leap's design standards.

What We Are Looking For

  • 5+ years of experience in design, with a focus on user experience and visual design.
  • Proficiency in design tools such as Sketch, Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, and InVision.
  • Strong understanding of user-centered design principles and human-centered design methodologies.
  • Experience with HubSpot and Excel, or similar technologies.
  • Ability to communicate complex design concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong portfolio that showcases your ability to balance creative vision with technical skills.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with the ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong collaboration and teamwork skills, with the ability to work closely with cross-functional teams.
