Job Description

About the Role

The role of a Founding Engineer at Clera is a unique opportunity to be part of a pioneering team that is redefining the recruitment industry through the power of AI. As engineer #4 on the founding team, you will work closely with the CTO and other founding engineers to develop and deploy cutting-edge features that automate complex workflows. This is a technically challenging position that requires a strong software engineering background, particularly in TypeScript and React, as well as practical experience working with AI. The ideal candidate will have a passion for building fully agentic systems that can learn and adapt over time, and will be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same.

Day-to-day, you will be responsible for shipping features to production daily, owning entire product areas from concept to deployment, and collaborating with the founding team to drive the product direction forward. This is a high-impact role that requires a startup mindset - someone who is resourceful, adaptable, and obsessed with creating value. You will need to be comfortable with uncertainty and ambiguity, and be able to navigate complex technical problems with ease.

What You Will Do

  • Develop and deploy features to production daily, using a combination of TypeScript, React, and AI technologies
  • Own entire product areas from concept to deployment, working closely with the founding team to drive product direction
  • Collaborate with the CTO and other founding engineers to build fully agentic systems that automate complex workflows
  • Work closely with customers to gather feedback and iterate on product development
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to the improvement of the overall codebase
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in AI and machine learning, and apply this knowledge to drive innovation in the product
  • Contribute to the development of the company's technical strategy and vision
  • Mentor and support junior engineers as the company grows and expands
  • Participate in agile development methodologies, including sprint planning and retrospectives
  • Collaborate with the product team to define and prioritize product requirements

What We Are Looking For

  • Very strong software engineering background, with a focus on TypeScript and React
  • Practical experience working with AI, including coding with AI and working with LLM APIs
  • Strong understanding of AI principles and machine learning concepts
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, high-impact environment, with a proven track record of delivering results under pressure
