Job Description
About the Role
As Haast's Founding Engineer in the US, you'll be the technical bridge between the company's product vision and customer reality. Your primary focus will be on building and shipping full-stack features that directly address compliance challenges faced by enterprise legal and compliance teams. You'll work closely with the founding team, collaborating directly to shape the product roadmap and engineering practices as Haast scales from Series A to market leadership.The role involves splitting your time between heads-down building and customer engagement, understanding pain points firsthand, and iterating on features in real-time. You'll own end-to-end technical decisions, designing systems, shipping to production, and iterating based on direct customer interaction. This high-autonomy work requires a unique blend of technical expertise, customer-centricity, and the ability to drive technical decisions independently.

What You Will Do
- Design, architect, and ship full-stack features that directly solve compliance challenges for Haast's customers
- Own the technical relationship with key customers, implementing solutions, gathering requirements, and translating feedback into product improvements
- Build scalable services and APIs that power Haast's LLM compliance platform, prioritizing customer experience
- Make high-impact technical decisions quickly, balancing engineering standards and customer needs
- Challenge assumptions on 'why' and 'how', directly influencing what Haast builds and how it's built
- Shape the product roadmap and engineering practices as Haast scales
- Collaborate with the founding team to drive product direction and technical strategy
- Work closely with customers to understand their pain points and integrate this feedback into product development
- Develop and maintain technical documentation for internal and external stakeholders
- Participate in code reviews, ensuring high-quality code and adherence to engineering standards
What We Are Looking For
- Experience building full-stack systems at meaningful scale, with a focus on backend services and frontend code
- Proficiency in Go, Node.js/TypeScript, or Python, with the ability to own features end-to-end
- Understanding of APIs, distributed systems, and the tradeoffs between speed and reliability in production environments
- Experience working with customers, understanding their needs, and translating this into technical solutions
- Ability to ship in fast-moving environments without compromising quality
- Curiosity about LLMs and their practical applications, particularly in compliance
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to challenge assumptions and drive technical decisions
- Experience with agile development methodologies and version control systems like Git
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a remote team
Nice to Have
- Experience with compliance or legal tech, particularly in an enterprise setting
- Knowledge of machine learning principles and their application in software development
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure
- Experience with containerization using Docker and orchestration with Kubernetes
