Founding Product Lead — ModelVault

About the Role

The successful candidate will have a strong technical background, with experience in product development, engineering, or technical founding roles. A deep understanding of AI/ML, devtools, infra, and embedded systems is essential, as well as the ability to work directly with engineers, understand system design tradeoffs, and write detailed specs.

ModelVault is committed to building a fully remote, async-friendly, and product-focused culture. As a founding team member, you will have full ownership of the roadmap and strategy, with a high degree of autonomy and flexibility.

What You Will Do

• Shape the product vision for ModelVault's first integrated AI appliance, defining what it does, who it's for, and how it works
• Define the v1 scope, including which models to include, use case prioritization, and UX/developer tools to build
• Work closely with engineering to ship local model serving, fine-tuning workflows, remote update systems, and UI/CLI interfaces
• Run product discovery with dev teams, research groups, and IT buyers to validate demand and refine positioning
• Lead roadmap planning, customer pilots, pricing tests, and go-to-market experiments
• Coordinate hardware and software integration, focusing on reliability, simplicity, and speed
• Build early systems that support scale, including remote diagnostics, patching pipelines, and customer feedback loops
• Represent product thinking in key decisions, balancing technical feasibility with user impact and long-term leverage

What We Are Looking For

• 4-10 years of experience in product, engineering, or technical founding roles, ideally in devtools, infra, AI/ML, or embedded systems
• Fluency in technical product development, with the ability to work directly with engineers and understand system design tradeoffs
• A bias for action and clarity, with the ability to move quickly from vision to build to feedback
• Experience working on zero-to-one hardware/software products or deeply technical stacks
• Strong technical writing skills, with the ability to write detailed specs and communicate complex ideas
• Ability to think like a founder, prioritizing ruthlessly, caring about customers, and seeing constraints as a feature
• Experience with containerized model stacks, embedded systems, edge computing, or AI appliances is a plus

Nice to Have

• Experience with RAG pipelines, inference optimization, or open-source LLM infra
• Past work on launching pilot programs or selling to technical B2B customers
• Background in dev-rel, solution engineering, or technical community engagement
• Familiarity with cloud computing, AI/ML, and devtools
