About the Role

The Franchise Law position at Pavago's client company is a unique opportunity for a legal professional to utilize their expertise in franchise law to support clients in navigating the complexities of franchise agreements, compliance requirements, and operational growth strategies. This role is pivotal in ensuring that clients are well-advised on all legal matters pertaining to their franchise operations, facilitating their ability to make informed decisions that align with their business objectives.

Day-to-day, the successful candidate will be engaged in a variety of tasks, from drafting and reviewing legal documents to providing expert legal guidance on franchise structures and compliance issues. The ability to balance legal requirements with business objectives is crucial, as is the capacity to work collaboratively with stakeholders to provide clear, actionable legal strategies.

Given the dynamic nature of franchise law and the varying regulatory landscapes, this role requires a professional who is not only knowledgeable about current laws and regulations but also adept at anticipating and advising on future changes that could impact clients' businesses.

What You Will Do

  • Draft, review, and negotiate franchise disclosure documents (FDDs), franchise agreements, and related contracts to ensure compliance with federal and state franchise laws.
  • Provide expert legal guidance on franchise structures, compliance, and operational issues, ensuring that clients are well-informed to make strategic decisions.
  • Monitor changes in franchise regulations and advise clients on the implications of these changes for their businesses.
  • Conduct due diligence for prospective franchise transactions to identify potential risks and opportunities.
  • Assist in resolving franchise-related disputes through negotiation, mediation, or litigation support, aiming for outcomes that protect clients' interests.
  • Identify potential risks in franchise operations and recommend preventative measures to mitigate these risks.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, balancing legal requirements with business objectives and ensuring that legal strategies align with overall business goals.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to provide clear, actionable legal strategies that support business growth and compliance.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients, providing them with high-quality legal support and advice tailored to their specific needs and circumstances.

What We Are Looking For

  • A Juris Doctor (JD) degree and active bar membership in at least one U.S. state.
  • At least 3+ years of experience practicing franchise law, commercial law, or related legal fields.
  • Proven experience advising on compliance, structuring, and dispute resolution in franchise matters.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. franchise regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal issues in a straightforward manner.
  • A proactive, detail-oriented approach with a client-first mindset.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver timely, accurate legal support.
  • Proficiency in Excel and other office software tools.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment with the ability to adapt to changing priorities.
