About the Role
The Fraud Strategist role at Realpage is a critical position that requires a unique blend of technical, analytical, and strategic skills. As a key member of the payments ecosystem team, you will be responsible for developing, testing, and optimizing fraud strategies, policies, and rules to prevent and detect fraudulent activity. Your work will have a direct impact on the company's bottom line, and your ability to balance risk mitigation with customer experience will be crucial to driving business growth.Day-to-day, you will work closely with cross-functional teams, including risk operations, product, engineering, and compliance, to identify areas of fraud risk and develop targeted strategies to address them. You will also be responsible for analyzing data to identify trends and patterns, and using this information to inform your strategic decisions.
What You Will Do
- Develop and maintain fraud risk policies, strategies, and rules to prevent and detect fraudulent activity
- Analyze data to identify trends and patterns, and use this information to inform strategic decisions
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify areas of fraud risk and develop targeted strategies to address them
- Use SQL to query data, validate hypotheses, and assess rule or control performance
- Partner with Risk Data Science & Analytics to translate dashboards, models, and analytical insights into practical fraud decision strategies
- Provide concise updates on fraud trends, strategy performance, and emerging risks to fraud leadership and cross-functional stakeholders
- Review themes from Trust and Safety escalations to identify control gaps and areas for improvement
- Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Payment Operations, Compliance/AML, Legal, and Operational Excellence on tooling, workflow, data availability, and control monitoring
- Document strategy rationale, rule logic, expected impact, monitoring plans, policy considerations, change history, and recommended follow-up actions
- Help build and optimize controls for payment fraud, onboarding risk, account takeover, and other types of fraudulent activity
What We Are Looking For
- 3-5 years of full-time experience in fraud strategy, fraud analytics, payments risk, data science, or a related technical risk function
- Mandatory SQL experience, with the ability to independently query data and validate hypotheses
- Exposure to data science, statistics, experimentation, model evaluation, Python/R, feature development, segmentation, or analytical methods used in fraud or risk decisioning
- Experience working with fraud operations, risk analytics, data science, product, engineering, compliance, or payment operations stakeholders
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Analytics, Statistics, Finance, Economics, Risk Management, Criminal Justice, Computer Science, or a related field
- Strong analytical curiosity and ability to connect fraud signals across disconnected tools, imperfect data, and evolving processes
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
