## About the Role As a Freelance Machine Learning Engineer at Mindrift, you will be part of a dynamic team working on diverse projects that drive innovation in AI and machine learning. Your primary focus will be on designing and developing computational STEM problems that simulate real scientific workflows, leveraging your expertise in Python programming and data analysis. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful execution of projects, collaborating with specialists in AI, data science, and software development.

The role entails a deep understanding of algorithms, methods, and their practical applications, as well as expertise in statistical analysis and machine learning. You will be responsible for verifying solutions using Python with standard libraries and documenting problem statements clearly. ## What You Will Do - Design original computational STEM problems that simulate real scientific workflows - Create problems that require Python programming to solve, ensuring they are computationally intensive and cannot be solved manually within reasonable timeframes - Develop problems requiring non-trivial reasoning chains and creative problem-solving approaches - Verify solutions using Python with standard libraries (Numpy, Pandas, Scipy, scikit-learn) - Document problem statements clearly and provide verified correct answers - Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project execution - Participate in the development of AI systems, focusing on testing, evaluating, and improving their performance - Contribute to the growth and success of Mindrift's clients through high-quality project delivery - Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in machine learning, AI, and data science, applying this knowledge to drive project success - Work closely with project managers to ensure timely and within-budget project completion

## What We Are Looking For - 5+ years of hands-on machine learning experience with proven business impact - Portfolio of completed projects and publications showcasing real-world problem-solving - Expert Python programming for data science (pandas, numpy, scipy, scikit-learn, statsmodels) - Expert statistical analysis and machine learning - Deep understanding of algorithms, methods, and their practical applications - Expertise in SQL and database operations for data manipulation and analysis - Experience with GenAI technologies (LLMs, RAG, prompt engineering, vector databases) - Understanding of MLOps practices and model deployment workflows - Knowledge of modern frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, LangChain) - Strong written English (C1+)

## Nice to Have - Experience working with cloud-based platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) - Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and version control systems (Git) - Participation in open-source projects or personal projects related to machine learning and AI - Certification in machine learning or a related field (e.g., Stanford CS229, Microsoft AZ-220)
