About the Role
As a Freelance SEO AEO Strategist at Smartbug Media, you will play a key role in developing and implementing SEO strategies for clients across various industries. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include conducting SEO audits, keyword research, and analyzing website performance using tools like Google Analytics and SEMrush. You will work closely with the client services marketing team to identify areas for improvement and develop tailored SEO plans to drive results.The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of SEO best practices, technical skills, and the ability to communicate complex ideas effectively. You will be part of a remote team of over 250 professionals, working together to deliver innovative digital solutions for clients.
What You Will Do
- Conduct SEO audits of client websites to identify areas for improvement
- Develop and implement keyword research strategies using tools like SEMrush and Google Keyword Planner
- Analyze website performance using Google Analytics and provide recommendations for improvement
- Create and implement technical SEO strategies, including schema markup and hreflang tags
- Collaborate with the development team to implement complex technical SEO recommendations
- Conduct in-depth analysis of website architecture and provide recommendations for optimizing site structure and internal linking
- Develop and implement strategies for international SEO, including managing hreflang attributes and understanding geo-targeting considerations
- Stay up-to-date with the latest SEO trends and algorithm updates, and apply this knowledge to drive results for clients
- Oversee the technical aspects of website migrations, redesigns, and platform changes to ensure minimal impact on organic search performance
- Experience with JavaScript SEO and understanding how search engines crawl and render dynamic content
- Demonstrate curiosity and expertise in how AI and LLM influence SEO strategy and search behavior
What We Are Looking For
- 5-8 years of progressive SEO experience with a digital marketing agency or in-house team
- Proven track record of developing and implementing successful SEO strategies for multi-domain and multinational websites
- Comprehensive knowledge of SEO best practices, including keyword research, technical SEO, and link building
- Experience with Google Analytics, GTM, and SEMrush
- Strong understanding of website architecture and technical SEO concepts
- Ability to communicate complex ideas effectively and work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
- French and English proficiency
- BA or BS degree required
Nice to Have
- Experience with server log file analysis to gain insights into how search engines interact with the website
- Knowledge of emerging technical SEO trends and algorithm updates
- Experience with international SEO and geo-targeting considerations
