About the Role

The Freelance Social Media Strategist will play a pivotal role in defining and executing a high-level social growth strategy for a prominent brand. Day-to-day, this will involve developing innovative audience growth strategies across Instagram, TikTok, and other key social platforms. The ability to advise on content pillars, themes, and positioning for a distinctive social brand will be crucial. This strategist will work closely with filmmakers and internal teams to ensure social strategy aligns with broader brand objectives, aiming to build an authentic, engaged community and brand identity.

Given the focus on paid media, expertise with Meta Ads and the ability to provide high-level paid media recommendations aligned with brand growth will be essential. Understanding how to leverage short-form video content, such as Reels, to enhance engagement and drive community growth is also vital. This role requires a deep understanding of community building and creator engagement, with the capacity to operate independently as a freelance consultant while providing strategic guidance.

As part of the role, the strategist will need to stay up-to-date with the latest trends in social media, including the evolving landscape of Instagram, TikTok, and other platforms, to continuously refine and improve the social media strategy.

What You Will Do

  • Develop an audience growth strategy across Instagram, TikTok, and other social platforms to increase brand visibility and engagement.
  • Advise on content pillars, themes, and positioning to create a distinctive social brand that resonates with the target audience.
  • Recommend Reels and short-form video strategies, including content cadence and formats, to maximize engagement and community participation.
  • Build and manage community engagement initiatives, including creator/fan partnerships, to foster a loyal and active community around the brand.
  • Provide high-level paid media recommendations, focusing on Meta Ads, TikTok, and YouTube, to support brand growth objectives.
  • Define target audiences and advise on segmentation and growth opportunities to ensure the social media strategy is data-driven and effective.
  • Collaborate with filmmakers and internal teams to align social strategy with broader brand objectives, ensuring a cohesive brand message.
  • Monitor and analyze social media metrics to evaluate the success of the social media strategy and identify areas for improvement.
  • Stay updated on the latest social media trends, algorithm changes, and best practices to continuously optimize the social media strategy.

What We Are Looking For

  • Proven experience in audience growth, social media strategy, and paid media for entertainment, media, or creator-led brands.
  • Expertise with Instagram, TikTok, Meta (Facebook), and short-form video content, including Reels.
  • Strong understanding of community building and creator engagement, with the ability to develop strategies that drive authentic engagement.
  • Ability to operate independently as a freelance consultant while providing strategic guidance to internal teams.
  • US-based or strong knowledge of the US film and entertainment audience, with an understanding of the nuances and preferences of this market.
  • Experience with content management systems and social media analytics tools to track engagement and campaign performance.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with filmmakers, creatives, and brand teams.
