Freelance Transcriptionist - Akan

About the Role

As a key member of Perle's transcription team, you will play a crucial role in helping the company build expert-driven training data for its clients. Your work will contribute to the development of applied AI products that require real human judgment, domain expertise, and cultural fidelity.

What You Will Do

• Listen to 2-speaker audio recordings in Akan and transcribe them accurately
• Label each speaker turn as Speaker 1 or Speaker 2, matching the audio channel
• Add timestamps at the start of each speaker turn in the format HH:MM:SS
• Ensure transcripts are sequential with no unexplained gaps
• Meet daily output targets and work independently
• Manage your time effectively to deliver high-quality transcripts within the given timeframe
• Utilize your strong written Akan skills to produce accurate transcripts with correct spelling, punctuation, and grammar
• Collaborate with the Perle team to address any issues or concerns that may arise during the transcription process
• Participate in quality control processes to ensure transcripts meet the required standards
• Continuously improve your transcription skills and knowledge to deliver high-quality work

What We Are Looking For

• Native or near-native fluency in Akan (spoken and written)
• Strong written Akan skills, including accurate spelling, punctuation, and grammar
• Ability to work independently and meet daily output targets
• Access to a computer with a stable internet connection
• Availability for at least 4 hours per day
• Prior transcription experience is a plus, but not required
• Ability to pass a qualification test to demonstrate your transcription skills
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain high levels of accuracy
• Excellent time management skills to meet deadlines and deliver high-quality work

• Experience with transcription software or tools
• Familiarity with AI and machine learning concepts
